God's finger writes our biographies,
every chapter arranged as He chooses.
Our lives, numbed by daily tasks
and drugged by dreams and dollars, hang
on His every word (if only we knew it).
We hope to write ourselves in
a perfect novel, no beginning, no ending,
the last line merging with the first.
But God will push us off our page,
allowing death to edit our final words.
He will translate us as He pleases,
and we will be characters in
an eternal story not of our creation.
