Spring is the defiant Christ-child
blowing thousands of poplar seedpods in my face,
daring me to catch them all,
knowing for sure that at least one
will slip into my heart.
I wonder why it is that you would
bother to plant your Self within my wintered
and poorly tilled way-of-being.
How can it be that each spring
no matter what I have done
you approach in a whirl
with the same question,
Do you love me more than these?
