The Last Two Questions

Rosary and remote, beads and buttons,

the worry work of my thumbs,

lie next to each other on my table

like worn-out celibate lovers.

One a circle of meditation,

a mortuary of remembered words and phrases.

The other a mindless numerology

producing fake icons on a false altar screen.

When to pray to my distant God?

When to stare at digital creatures?
